OHIO FAMILY AND CHILDREN FIRST
Monroe County Family and Children First
Ohio Family and Children First (OFCF) is a partnership of state and local government, communities and families that enhances the well-being of Ohio’s children and families by building community capacity, coordinating systems and services, and engaging families. OFCF's vision is for every child and family to thrive and succeed within healthy communities.
Established in 1993, Ohio Family and Children First (OFCF) is governed by the Governor's Children's Cabinet with the purpose of streamlining and coordinating government services for children and families. The OFCF Cabinet Council is comprised of the following Ohio Departments: Aging, Developmental Disabilities, Department of Children and Youth, Education, Health, Job and Family Services, Medicaid, Mental Health and Addiction Services, Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities, Rehabilitation and Correction, Youth Services, and the Office of Budget and Management. The current Administrative Agent for Ohio Family & Children First is the Ohio Department of Children and Youth. Locally, the county commissioners establish the 88 county Family and Children First Councils (FCFC).
The FCFC Service Coordination Process is an integral component of a local system of care. FCFC Service Coordination is a process of service planning and system collaboration that provides individualized services and supports to families who have needs across multiple systems. A system of care is a coordinated network of community-based services and supports that are organized to meet the challenges of children and youth with multiple needs and their families. System of Care is family driven, youth guided, culturally competent and community based.
