General Information about Dog Tags
All dogs should have a tag by three months old. The new tags for the year go on sale December 1st of each year for the upcoming year. You have until January 31st to buy the tags at regular price. If you get a new dog more than 30 days prior to January 1st, you will be required to buy tags for both years.
Penalty will be assessed to dogs without tags after January 31st, if ONE or more of the following is correct:
  1. The dog is older than 3 months
  2. You received the dog over 30 days ago
  3. Dog came from someone in Ohio, who didn't buy tags.
These Rules/Laws for penalty come from the State of Ohio!
You MUST buy the tag in the county the dog is in. These fees vary from county to county.
Please notify the Auditor's office if:
  1. Change of Ownership
  2. Dog Dies
  3. Change of Address
  4. Change of Phone Number
Accounts are by addresses, not owner's name. This is for the Dog Warden and staff, so when someone goes to a  house/area, they know ALL dogs that are in that location. We can put notes on the account so we know whose dogs are whose, but there will still be one account. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
